The Consequences for Recall of Children's Ability to Generate Interactive Imagery in the Absence of External Supports.
Foley, Mary Ann; And Others
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v56 n2 p173-200 Oct 1993
Examined the effects of narrative statements used to evoke imaginal elaborations on children's recall. Found that children generated images that involved multiple referents and that children's memory performance was facilitated when their imaginal constructions were based on material created by themselves rather than on descriptions provided by the experimenter.
