Depression, Burnout, and Perceptions of Control in Hospital Nurses.
Glass, David C.; And Others
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v61 n1 p147-55 Feb 1993
Assessed depression, burnout, and perceived job control (PJC) in 162 nurses. Depression accounted for over 19% of variance associated with emotional exhaustion, and PJC accounted for another 6%. Perceptions of uncontrollability were significantly related to higher levels of depression and burnout. Analyses suggest that perceived uncontrollability is associated with burnout which, in turn, is related to depressive affect. (Author/NB)
