Neurocognitive Aspects of Pediatric Sickle Cell Disease.
Brown, Ronald T.; And Others
Journal of Learning Disabilities, v26 n1 p33-45 Jan 1993
This literature review on neurocognitive functioning and learning of children with sickle cell disease found diffuse neurocognitive deficits, with much variability across subjects. Studies of psychosocial development of these children indicate that behavioral problems, low self-esteem, and body image disturbances are frequently characteristic. Recommendations for intervention programs and research are offered. (Author/JDD)
