Bias Issues in the Classroom: Encounters with the Teaching Self.
Weinstein, Gerald; Obear, Kathy
New Directions for Teaching and Learning, n52 p39-51 Win 1992
Handling intergroup bias issues in the college classroom may stimulate teacher anxiety but also may provide opportunities for self-understanding. Common anxieties concern confronting one's own cultural identity/attitudes, responding to biased comments, doubts about one's own competence, need for learner approval, and handling intense emotions. Specific techniques are useful in addressing each concern. (MSE)
