Systems librarians who are LAN administrators have diverse and complex responsibilities. Besides needing the capacity to install and maintain hardware and software in a constantly changing technical environment, they must be effective trainers for a wide variety of users, be able to communicate with other departments, and manage their time flexibly in a 24-hour work day.
