The Role of a Learning Community in Changing Preservice Teachers' Knowledge and Beliefs about Mathematics Education.
Wilcox, Sandra K.; And Others
For the Learning of Mathematics, v11 n3 p31-39 Nov 1991
Examines an intervention study of 23 students in an elementary teacher education program to determine the effects of three nontraditional mathematics courses on the teacher candidates' conceptual understanding of mathematics and the learning of mathematics. Results indicate that the intervention produced significant changes in prospective teachers' beliefs about themselves as learners of mathematics and how mathematics is learned. (MDH)
