The Nature and Stability of Ethnic Identity in Chinese Youth: Effects of Length of Residence in Two Cultural Contexts.
Rosenthal, Doreen A.; Feldman, S. Shirley
Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, v23 n2 p214-27 Jun 1992
Explores ethnic identities of first- and second-generation Chinese-Australian (n=96) and Chinese-American (n=141) high school students. Responses to ethnic identification questions of both groups were remarkably similar. Results confirm importance of analyzing distinctive components of ethnic identity separately. Internal aspects of ethnic identity are more resistant to change. (SLD)
