Prenatal Drug Exposure: An Overview of Associated Problems and Intervention Strategies.
Tyler, Rachelle
Phi Delta Kappan, v73 n9 p705-08 May 1992
Although prenatal drug exposure places children in high-risk categories, educators must guard against preconceptions regarding outcomes. Environmental influences play a crucial role in determining long-term outcomes, ranging from minimal to severe. Effective intervention entails prevention at all levels, combined with a comprehensive approach. Terms such as "crack baby" imply blame and should be deleted from discussions of such children. (MLH)
