Relationship of Racial Identity and Gender-Role Attitudes to Black Women's Psychological Well-Being.
Pyant, Carlton T.; Yanico, Barbara J.
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v38 n3 p315-22 Jul 1991
Examined whether racial identity attitudes and gender-role attitudes predicted psychological well-being among 143 Black female college students and nonstudents. Found that racial identity attitudes predicted mental health variables in both samples, that preencounter attitudes were negative predictor of general well-being and self-esteem for both groups, and that gender-role attitudes were not predictive of mental health in either sample.
