Adolescent Ego Development within the Family: Family Styles and Family Sequences.

Analyses of 80 families identified family interactions relevant to adolescent ego development. Relations between family style and each family member's ego development were examined, as were family sequences and their links with adolescent ego development. Mutual enabling interactions between mothers and adolescents were significantly enhanced by the mothers' ego development. (SH)
