Religious Cognitions and Use of Prayer in Health and Illness.
Bearon, Lucille B.; Koenig, Harold G.
Gerontologist, v30 n2 p249-53 Apr 1990
Asked 40 older adults about God's role in health and illness and about praying in response to physical symptoms. Least-educated respondents and Baptists were most likely to pray about symptoms. Symptoms discussed with physician or for which drugs were taken were more likely to be prayed over, suggesting that prayer and medical help-seeking are not mutually exclusive. (Author/NB)
