Surveyed 13,878 secondary school students concerning their perceptions of needing help in dealing with alcohol- or drug-related problems. Subjects identified as heavy substance users tended to deny having substance abuse problem. Factors which increased their perception of needing help were experiencing serious physiological effects of drugs, serious personal problems, and having alcoholic in family. (Author/NB)
