Examined divorce and suicide data in Norway. Found that, in spite of Norway's institutional and cultural protection against suicide, a 1 percent increase in divorce was associated with 0.46 percent increase in suicide. Found no links between unemployment and suicide in Norway. Effects of divorce on suicide were independent of religiosity, and the religious factor was unrelated to suicide. (Author/NB)
