I See What You Mean: Nonverbal Communication Strategies of Young Deaf Children.
Christensen, Kathee Mangan
American Annals of the Deaf, v133 n4 p270-75 Oct 1988
The communicative behavior of five hearing-impaired children, aged two-three, and five hearing subjects was analyzed. Results showed that the quantity of communication demonstrated by the hearing-impaired children paralleled the quantity of communication observed in hearing peers when nonverbal communication acts, particularly gaze and gesture, were counted along with verbal counterparts.
