Cognitive Predictors of Depression and Suicide Ideation.
Prezant, Daniel W.; Neimeyer, Robert A.
Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, v18 n3 p259-64 Fall 1988
Assessed 136 adults diagnosed with major (unipolar) depression for intensity of depressive symptomatology, lethality of suicide ideation, and cognitive variables presumed to mediate depression and suicidality. Results indicated that Beck's Hopelessness Scale combined with Detachment factor of Crandell Cognitions Inventory best predicted depressive symptomatology. Suicidality was significantly predicted by Selective Abstraction and Overgeneralization factors of Lefebvre's Cognitive Error Questionnaire. (Author/NB)
