Curriculum Change and Contextual Realities in South African Education: Cui Bono?
Jansen, Jonathan D.
Journal of Curriculum Studies, v20 n6 p521-27 Nov-Dec 1988
Evaluates two South African curriculum change projects (Science Education Project and Fort Hare Project) that illustrate the difficulty of instituting meaningful change while working within the confines of the state school system. Concludes that control of schools by the state, supremacist ideology in curricula, and institutionalization of inequality are barriers to change within the system. (LS)
