Views of the Family by Chinese and U.S. Children: A Comparative Study of Kinetic Family Drawings.
Nuttall, Ena Vasquez; And Others
Journal of School Psychology, v26 n2 p191-94 Sum 1988
Compared family drawings of Chinese (People's Republic of China) and United States (U.S.) elementary school children. Chinese children depicted parents and grandparents more frequently, reflecting the Chinese tendency to perceive themselves as members of nuclear and extended families, whereas U.S. children expressed more individualism and independence from their families. Found drawings reflected social values and norms of cultures. (Author/KS)
