MMPI Characteristics of Alcoholics: A Review.
Graham, John R.; Strenger, Virginia E.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v56 n2 p197-205 Apr 1988
Reviews research concerning the usefulness of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory in identification of alcoholics' personality characteristics. Discusses scales, profile configurations, and item analyses. Finds no single personality type characteristic of all alcoholics, although six cluster types occur with consistency. Alcoholics consistently scored high on impulsivity, low frustration tolerance, resentment of authority, and poorly controlled anger. (Author/KS)
