Examines Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules from a generalized database approach, using the entity-relationship model. Types of rules identified include content; establishing entities, relationships, or attributes; authorized sources; domain; format; and access points. Current arrangement of the rules is criticized, improvements are recommended, and areas for further research are suggested. (17 references) (MES)
