Examination of 249 Quebec adolescents on the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) revealed in 67.8 percent of the cases that depressed males show a symptomatology characterized by irritability, work inhibition, social withdrawal and sleep disturbance. Depressed females present symptoms characterized by body image distortion, weight loss, loss of appetite, fatigue, and dissatisfaction. (BJV)
