Efficacy of Stress-Inoculation Training in Coping with Multiple Sclerosis.
Foley, Frederick W.; And Others
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v55 n6 p919-22 Dec 1987
Assigned 40 multiple sclerosis (MS) patients to stress inoculation training (SIT), which included cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy and progressive deep-muscle relaxation training adapted for MS patients, or current available care (CAC), which provided the usual clinic services. The SIT group was significantly less depressed, anxious and distressed, and was using more problem-focused coping strategies than CAC control subjects. (Author/KS)
