Variables which have a significant direct effect on the psychological well-being of Vietnamese refugees are ethnic community support, self-esteem, and income. Variables having an indirect effect are education, length of residence, and English speaking ability. Policies and social programs must help to preserve and maintain ethnic communities for immigrants. (VM)
