Effects of Role Expectations on Clients' Perceptions of Disclosing and Nondisclosing Counselors.
Peca-Baker, Theresa A.; Friedlander, Myrna L.
Journal of Counseling & Development, v66 n2 p78-81 Oct 1987
Female college students (N=81) were led to believe either that a counselor would or would not self-disclose, or were given no expectation regarding self-disclosure. Subjects then listened to audiotapes in which counselor did or did not reveal personal information. Results showed that disclosing counselor was viewed more favorably than nondisclosing counselor regardless of subject expectations. (Author/NB)
