Middle-Range Farmers Persisting Through the Agricultural Crisis.
Salamon, Sonya; Davis-Brown, Karen
Rural Sociology, v51 n4 p503-12 Win 1986
Ethnographic study of north-central Illinois agricultural county compares entrepreneurial and yeoman farm families and concludes that management strategies reflecting goals and values of these types of families affect susceptibility to financial crisis. Yeoman financial conservatism, family cooperation, modest farm goals, and behavior correlated with values contributed to persistence in farming. (LFL)
