Physical educators cannot continue to list as goals everything that physical activity instruction might possibly contribute to students' lives. The affective domain has been additionally burdened by the long-standing assumption that affective benefits are the automatic result of instruction in other domains. The need to clarify the workings of the affective domain is stressed. (MT)
