Is There a Marriage Gap in Politics?
Kingston, Paul William; Finkel, Steven E.
Journal of Marriage and the Family, v49 n1 p57-64 Feb 1987
Used 1984 national survey data to test whether marital status affected political orientations and participation. Found married and single persons to differ consistently in their politics, with married being more conservative. Marital status only modestly affected some dimensions of political orientation, including presidential vote. These effects did not differ appreciably by sex, age, or homeownership status. (Author/NB)
