Sixteen recent research studies of mastery learning were analyzed to answer four questions: (1) Can 90-95 percent of students reach mastery; (2) Can teachers modify instruction to meet student needs; (3) Can teachers define mastery; and (4) How realistic is the mastery learning operating procedure?
