A survey of 76 midwestern teachers indicated that: (1) female teachers experience more stress, (2) younger teachers are at greater risk of alienation; and (3) a relationship between stress and alienation is lacking; and (4) male and female teachers experience comparable levels of alienation. Recommendations for aleviating stress through administrative changes are presented. (KH)
