Perceived Role Conflict, Role Ambiguity, and Burnout among Special Education Teachers.
Crane, Stephen J.; Iwanicki, Edward F.
Remedial and Special Education (RASE), v7 n2 p24-31 Mar-Apr 1986
The study examined the relationship of role conflict and role ambiguity to teacher burnout among 443 urban special education teachers. Role conflict and ambiguity explained a significant amount of variance in feelings of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. While perceived burnout among teachers was moderate, the level varied significantly with respect to age, experience, sex, and setting. (Author/CL)
