Examined the impact of family social status, income amount, source, and stability on the social and emotional functioning of 256 divorced custodial parents. The findings suggest that while social status and income level are positively correlated with satisfactory postdivorce adjustment, equivalent incomes do have a differential impact on the custodial parent, depending on their source, stability, and security.
