Summarizes important research on resettlement of refugees from Southeast Asia and outlines implications of that research for instructional programs in English as a second language, pre-employment training, and cultural orientation. Concludes that if instructional programs are to facilitate language learning most effectively, they must use communicative curricula and methods. (SED)
