The Psychological Reality of Phonetic Features in Children.
Zagar, Linda L.; Locke, John L.
Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools, v17 n1 p56-62 Jan 1986
Ten linguistically normal four to five year olds were trained to associate consonantal features of voicing, manner, and place of articulation with cups of particular location and color. It was concluded that phonetic features are of limited availability to children in associative tasks and that their clinical value with phonologically disordered children may also be limited.
