Analysis of suicide rates of successive birth cohorts indicated that male birth cohorts were characterized by a given suicide rate (low, average, or high) throughout their life. Female birth cohorts varied during their life, with those having a higher suicide rate early in their life having a lower one 20 years later, and vice-versa. (Author)
