How Accurately Can Primary School Teachers Predict the Scores of Their Pupils in Standardised Tests of Attainment? A Study of Some Non-Cognitive Factors that Influence Specific Judgements.
Doherty, Jim; Conolly, Michael
Educational Studies, v11 n1 p41-60 1985
Primary school teachers tended greatly to overestimate the scores that their students would achieve in mathematics and English achievement tests and to greatly underestimate the scores they would achieve in the reading achievement test. Factors that influenced teachers' judgments include academic competence, student relationship with the teacher, and tidiness. (Author/RM)
