Self-Instruction Training to Increase Academic Performance of Educationally Handicapped Children.
Swanson, H. Lee; Scarpati, Stan
Child and Family Behavior Therapy, v6 n4 p23-39 Win 1984
In two experiments, self-instruction training for educationally handicapped children consisted of general self-instruction components and explicit instruction in task components. For both experiments the training improved academic performance. It was concluded that successful academic performance occurs when self-instructional statements integrate global strategies while simultaneously directing attention to task specific information.
