Interviewed managers in high technology and traditional firms (N=105) to explore the determinants of research and development compensation practices and policies in high technology firms. Results indicated that sales volume, stage in the product life cycle, profitabilty, and turnover are predictors of the method and magnitude of financial rewards. (LLL)
