Analysis of survey data indicated that in general, attitudes of Whites toward residential integration became more liberal between 1958 and 1967. The amount of racial tolerance and changes in tolerance over time depended on Whites' perceptions of changes in their group position (as a majority) resulting from integration. (Author/MJL)
