An evaluative framework for assessing the educational contribution of films, including television, is needed. Analysis of several issues and conceptions can help to provide such a framework: (1) traditional conceptions of educational films; (2) concept of education; (3) expansion of the conception of educational films; and (4) significance of film as art.
