Investigation of the relationship between the existence of sociocultural and family supports in aging and positive outcomes among elderly Japanese Americans in Hawaii suggested that: (1) Japanese elderly had more family support than Whites; (2) a high proportion of elderly Japanese were employed, indicating successful adjustment; and (3) Japanese elderly had better health than Whites.
