Today's specialized accrediting threatens to strangle general and liberal education, to dissipate public confidence in voluntary accreditation, and to increase the danger of governmental intrusion. The need for adoption of voluntary national guidelines on admissions and recruitment practices is advocated. (Author/MLW)
