The Confounding of Two Self-Report Assertion Measures with the Tendency to Give Socially Desirable Responses in Self-Description.
Rock, Daniel L.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v49 n5 p743-44 Oct 1981
Investigated the relationship between Edwards conceptualization of social desirability and the Rathus Assertiveness Schedule and the Assertion Inventory. Results indicated that the Assertion Inventory is substantially confounded with the tendency to give socially desirable responses in self-description; the Rathus Assertiveness Schedule is less affected by social desirability.
