Using latent class and variance component analysis models, the authors reexamined data from the "Teaching Styles and Pupil Progress" report (Bennett, 1976). Their analysis indicated three distinguishable but overlapping teaching styles, two of which correspond closely to the "formal" and "informal" classes designated in the report. (Author/SJL)
