The Enigma of Androgyny: Differential Implications for Males and Females?
Jones, Warren H.; And Others
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v46 n2 p298-313 Apr 1978
Tested the hypothesis that psychological androgyny permits greater behavioral flexibility and leads to better adjustment. Contrary to expectations, findings indicated flexibility and adjustment were associated with masculinity. Subsequent experiments revealed that feminine subjects prefer to become more masculine if possible. Results suggest an alternative to Bem's theory of androgyny. (Author/BEF)
