Perceptions of actual and ideal leadership behaviors of male and female department heads were examined using data gathered from 49 university department heads and 427 faculty members. Findings indicate similarities in male and female perceptions of desirable attributes, of own leadership behavior, and in proneness to view own leadership behavior as ideal. (Author/LBH)
