With dropping enrollment, the purely arithmetical view dictates school closures. But this changes if we look toward desired future qualities of the educational system. Factors which may need consideration include additional space for more flexible teaching, increased organizational emphasis on human relationships, and greater community involvement. (Author/SJL)
