Examines the impact of five dimensions of police professionalism on cynicism and work alienation, and assesses the nature of an interaction effect between department size and these dimensions. Findings indicate that commitment to a professional ideology reduces cynicism and work alienation, and that effects of professionalism are specified by department size. (Author/KC)
