This paper explores psychological forces and their insidious impact on women. Four central barriers will be discussed: female socialization, conflicting definitions of success for women, mistaken stereotypes and myths regarding women in the work world, and exclusion of women from "charismatic education" to assume competence and from vigorous performance standards.
