Some of the effects of deafness are examined in the context of learning and suggestions are offered for identifying and alleviating them. Up to 200 Open University students could benefit from special services such as those described in the six case studies in this article. They all received transcripts of radio and television programs to compensate for hearing loss. (LBH)
