The Effect of Economic Restraints on Public-Sector Collective Bargaining: The Lessons of New York City
Weitzman, Joan P.
Employee Relations Law Journal, 2, 3, 286-312, win 77
The effects of fiscal crisis on labor-management relations in New York City are discussed along with the broader implications of the New York experience. It is suggested that the crisis has chilled the public's attitude toward public employees, resulted in new pressures on the collective bargaining process, and prompted a reexamination of responsible governmental structures.
