Trend data associated with increasing alienation and a decrease in coping skills among youth point to symptoms of inadequate socialization of young people to adulthood. Remedies that increase the variety and intensity of adult contacts for youth should be considered. Such changes would likely have important implications for community college management. (Author/JDS)
